PADI originally conceived of the Project AWARE concept. It's all about divers taking care of the oceans and seas.

There are 21,000 fish species in the world. In this course you'll learn to identify fish family based on shape, location, and behavior, concentrating on fish found where we're diving in the Caribbean basin.

Features of the AWARE Fish ID Specialty Class

dive flag Two reef dives with an instructor

dive flag Underwater fish charts and writing slates provided for the class

dive flag Can be credited toward a Master SCUBA Diver rating

You'll also learn fish surveying techniques that you can use wherever you dive to provide counts for the Project AWARE database.

Prerequisites: be certified as a PADI Open Water Diver, Junior Open Water Diver or have a qualifying certification from another training organization; and be at least 10 years old.
